Terms of sale and refunds
October 13, 2026
These terms apply when you buy a report from the Home Energy Upgrade Ladder. The tool is operated by Brolte, LLC, a South Dakota limited liability company: Gregory.Brown@brolte.com, 25 First Ave. SW, STE A, Watertown, SD 57201 USA. If we change these terms, we will change the date above; the terms in effect when you buy apply to that purchase.
What you are buying
The summary is free. "Your full ladder" is a one-time purchase of a report built from the answers and bills you entered: every upgrade on your ladder in the order to climb it, with estimated savings, cost ranges, paybacks, rebate pointers and the source behind each figure. If your home differs from typical, you can adjust your bill breakdown and local cost level.
Your purchase covers the report for the answers you entered when you bought it. Changing those answers starts a new calculation, which is a new purchase. Your report link still reopens the report you bought with your inputs provided at that time. Reopening a report recalculates it with the tool's current data, so figures can change slightly if prices or sources have been updated since.
Estimates, not an audit or a quote
Every figure is an estimate, modeled from your answers, your bills and published data: state and regional technical reference manuals, U.S. Department of Energy and ENERGY STAR guidance, U.S. Energy Information Administration prices and NOAA weather data. Nothing is measured in your home. A report is not a professional energy audit, a home inspection, engineering advice or a contractor's quote, and your actual savings and costs will differ, sometimes substantially.
Costs are shown before rebates. Rebate and incentive information is a pointer, current as of the date shown, and programs change. Check with your utility, the state, or the program before relying on it. Before work on your home's structure, wiring, gas lines or fuel-burning equipment, get advice from a qualified professional.
Price, payment and delivery
Your full ladder costs $9.95 (US dollars), paid once; there is no subscription. The price is shown on this site and on the payment page before you pay. Payments are processed by Stripe, and your card details never reach us. A promotion code can lower the price, including to zero.
Your report appears on screen as soon as Stripe confirms the payment. The confirmation page is your report link: it reopens the report on any device for 60 days after purchase, then stops working, and the answers behind it are deleted (see the privacy notice). Save a PDF copy if you want to keep the report longer.
Refunds
If a report isn't useful to you, email Gregory.Brown@brolte.com within 30 days of buying it and we will refund what you paid, in full. You don't need to give a reason. Please include your report link or your Stripe receipt so we can find the purchase.
The refund goes back to the card or account you paid with. Your bank usually shows it within 5 to 10 business days. Once a purchase is refunded, its report link stops working.
Limits of liability
We work to keep the estimates accurate and their sources current, but the tool and its reports are provided as they are, without any promise of a particular saving, cost or result. To the extent the law allows, Brolte, LLC is not liable for decisions you make using the estimates, including what you buy, whom you hire or what work you do, and our total liability for any claim about the tool or a report is limited to the amount you paid for that report. Nothing in these terms limits a right you have under the law of your state that cannot be limited by agreement.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Dakota, where Brolte, LLC is organized, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. This does not take away protections that the law of your own state gives you and that cannot be waived.
